Jenna’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I became unhappy with my weight gradually over the past few years but never did anything to stop it. Finally, I went on a family trip to Alaska and couldn’t keep up on the hikes and biking trips that we took. I was so out of shape that just a mile was all I could handle. When we got back and I saw the family photos, I was so depressed. I knew I had to do something.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I was so unhappy with the way I looked that I didn’t want to leave the house. I would blow off plans with friends simply because I didn’t look good in anything.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
jenna-p-weight-loss-1No more fast food. I used to eat it all the time because it was fast, easy and cheap. Pretty soon I realized that an apple is a much more substantial snack with WAY fewer calories than a snack wrap at McDonalds and even costs less!

What was most challenging about losing weight?
At first it was avoiding the temptations like chips and desserts that I used to mindlessly eat while watching TV or sitting around the house.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
It only took about a month to start seeing results. My pants started to fit looser and I noticed that climbing a flight of stairs no longer made me feel like I was climbing Mt. Everest!

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took about 6 months for me to reach my weight as of right now. I am still aiming for another 38 pounds!

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I haven’t really tried to maintain this weight because I still have more to lose. I have kept losing by sticking to healthy choices, such as an omelette without cheese for breakfast instead of sugary cereal or pancakes and simple things like counting calories using online fitness tracking programs. That site has truly made losing weight enjoyable and easy!

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I have way more self-esteem and feel so much more comfortable in my own skin. And now, I can hike and bike with my family no problem!

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
I frequent ShapeFit.com and read the weight loss success stories of others and learn from their experiences. Seeing how much other people can lose is truly inspirational.

Find a sufficient calorie intake a day and STICK TO IT!

Weight loss tip #2:
Read others success stories like the ones posted on ShapeFit.com and use websites to count calories and gain support from others.

Believe in yourself! The human body is an amazing thing and its phenomenal what we can do with it!

Weight Training:
Light weight reps on a machine or free weights. I never really go too crazy on weight lifting, yet. I want to lose more weight before I start getting into toning.

Cardiovascular:
I LOVE the elliptical machine but I also walk on the treadmill on an incline or take my bike outside for a change of scenery.
