Kelly Anne’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have been unhappy with my weight (morbid obesity) from the age of 18. I ate for emotional reason and didn’t want to listen to anyone about my weight issues. I was depressed most of my life so I ate.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I really decided to make a lifestyle change on November 10, 2012. My sister had concerns since she noticed my breathing. I also noticed I was breathless when doing certain tasks. Along with my sister, I had a doctor’s appointment and ended up straight in the hospital and I ended up having clots in my lungs. It had taken this health scare and the death of a young cousin to obesity to make me decide to take back my life for the better.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Going to get help from a dietitian. On my first visit, she spent 2 hours giving me the hard words on how my life will be if I didn’t change for the better. I started on my weight loss journey the next day. A year later, my dietitian and I have become close friend and she will always be an important person in my life.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
kelly-anne-weight-loss-story-7It was admitting to myself that I had a problem and I was the only one that could fix it. The first month was the hardest since I had to stick to it. This has been the best decision I have ever made.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Within a month! With everything changing in my eating habits, I now get compliments from family and friends about how great I look. My clothes are also fitting better now.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
1 year.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
So far it’s been 1 year and I’m still going to continue on this long-term journey and by doing this I set achievable fitness challenges in the gym like a 12 week challenge and following a healthy eating plan.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I test my limits in fitness, and many people want to come on board with what I’m doing since they have seen a big change in me as a person. We setup fitness programs and workout for fun.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I’m out and about in the community more now. I used to be homebound since I was ill last year. I now can even walk 30km per week for fitness.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Take a “JUST DO IT” approach, feeling the fear and doing it anyway. This is not a time to debate your excuses, rather to PUSH through them. If you don’t give up, you cannot FAIL.

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
I like reading ShapeFit’s before and after stories since I like to learn from other people’s weight loss journeys.
