Nery’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I’ve been unhappy with my weight and health since I’ve been out of high school.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I had trouble sleeping at night because of my breathing. Also, I always had headaches and was always tired. Finally, I saw a picture of myself at a family outing and realized that enough was enough, I had to make changes if I wanted to live to see my son grow up.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
First, I began to exercise. I started slowly by walking on a treadmill (3.5 MPH) for 30-40 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Gradually, as my endurance went up, I increase the speed (MPH) on the treadmill week by week. After two weeks of exercising and little weight loss, I knew I had to change my eating habits. I started by eliminating all soda and fast food from my diet. I started to bring my lunch to work instead of eating fast food. Then, when I found ShapeFit.com, I began to study on nutrition and what my body needs and uses for fuel.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
The most challenging aspect of losing weight for me was forming a habit of working out. I had to be consistent with my training. Also, during the first few weeks, stopping myself from instinctively going to the pantry to look for something to eat!

How long did it take you to start to see results?
After about a month, I began to feel my clothes fit better.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
7 months.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
Still in training. I have another 40 pounds to go before I move to maintenance.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel more energized throughout the day and don’t get headaches or back aches anymore!

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
ShapeFit’s motivational stories were a source of inspiration for me. As I progressed (and still progressing) in my transformation, the different tools and nutritional facts really help me understand how to best fuel my body.
