Rahmani’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I saw a photo of myself with my family and finally realized how heavy I’d gotten.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I didn’t like being overweight, my clothes didn’t fit right. I was between sizes and had to go through almost every pair of pants and every skirt and dress in my size to find something that looked good on me. Plus I have a large rear and I remembered it looked better when I weighed less.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I started eating five to six meals a day. I incorporated weight lifting two to three times a day with some kind of cardio. Either treadmill, dancing, elliptical, stairmaster or spinning.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
It still is challenging. I love sugar and simple carbs! Eating cleaner is the most challenging thing to me about losing weight.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Since I’m a pear, I saw the results first in my upper body at around six months into my routine. Since my lower half takes a little longer to go away those inches melted off around two months later. I’m still working on sculpting the thighs and hips down while building up my upper body.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took about one year to reach 144-146 pounds.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I have maintained this weight for about 12 months by watching what I eat, weight training two to three times a day and doing some kind of cardio whenever I can. When I cheat, I try to make it up by doing some type of exercise to create a calorie deficit.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I love looking for clothes now. I like the way I look in the mirror. I’m actually a size six, down from a size ten. Shopping is more fun and I have a whole lot more self-esteem.

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
ShapeFit offered me a resource for exercise demonstrations, nutrition and role models who helped motivate me when I reached a plateau. ShapeFit.com is a great resources for folks who are trying to lose weight. I check it from time to time to become more knowledgeable about the best ways to exercise and eat better.
