Sarah’s Weight Loss Story!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I became unhappy in February of this year (2013).

What made you decide to lose weight?
I went to the doctor for a routine checkup and they took some blood. The nurse called back a few days later and told me that I was pre-diabetic. I thought, “Game over.”

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I have never looked at it as a diet. It has always been a lifestyle change. I’ve also never had to sacrifice taste!

What was most challenging about losing weight?
I thought that the most challenging thing would be giving up the fast food, but the longer I go without it the less I crave it!

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Two months.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
Seven months.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
Seven months. I’ve decreased my calories and I exercise six days a week.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
My faith is one thing. God helps me keep a positive attitude. It also helps when I cook healthy food for my mom and husband and they say, “Mmmmm!”

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
My anxiety has gone way down and I’m much more upbeat! My blood sugar is also back down to completely normal!

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
You have to look at it as a lifestyle change. You can’t go back to the way you ate before. If you do, then the weight will return.

Weight loss tip #1:

Weight loss tip #2:
Everyone’s caloric intake is different. Talk to your doctor about how much you need to lose weight yet still function.

Weight loss tip #3:
If you can’t join a gym, checkout workout DVD’s from the library for free.

Weight loss tip #4:
Switch to brown food. White food turns into sugar in your stomach.

Weight loss tip #5:
Don’t skip meals!

Sarah’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!

Breakfast:
A boiled egg and a fat-free yogurt.

Lunch:
1 cup of brown rice, 1 tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce, and 1/2 of baked crab meat. Oh, and a sprinkle of sea salt!

Dinner:
Broiled fish with Season-All seasoning and a single serving of sweet potato fries.

Snacks or Mini Meals:
Mozzarella cheese sticks with Panko crumbs and Season-All seasoning baked in the oven.

Nutritional Supplements:
Fish oil and a multivitamin.

Sarah’s Weight Loss Workouts!

Weight Training:
I do 10 minute workouts with five pound weights after I do my cardio.

Cardiovascular:
I do “Walk Off the Pounds” (2 mile walk).
