Tempest’s Weight Loss Interview!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I was never overweight as a child but when I turned 21 I gained about 80 pounds. I didn’t know who I was at that weight. I had lost myself and I was unhappy. That’s when I started to research nutrition and fitness.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I was fed up with being obese. No one in my family followed through with anything and I had to set the bar. I had to find my happiness and live life feeling good about myself.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
No fast food, no alcohol, no fried foods, no sugar and lots of water. I prepared meals so I always had healthy food on hand.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
The temptation of unhealthy food. Times when I would go out with my friends and had to make healthy choices were difficult. I would take my lunch box everywhere!

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
18 months.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
It’s been two years since I had my son and I have pretty much maintained my weight and lost even more pounds and inches. The great thing is that I haven’t gained any weight. I have consistently worked out even when I didn’t feel like it. I prepare my meals and try to eliminate sugar from my diet which is what has helped me keep the pounds off.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I love to wear nice clothes! I recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree and I was so happy to accomplish that so I worked out even harder in the gym so that I could look and feel great.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel great physically and I am stronger. My confidence is very high. I look great in clothes and I am happy.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Please don’t compare yourself to anyone else. We are all unique and that’s what sets us apart. Research food and find out what’s good for you. You can’t kill yourself in the gym and then eat junk food. It just doesn’t work that way.
