How much did you lose?
I lost 140 pounds and went from a 26/28 dress size to a size 6!

When did you become unhappy with your weight (were you overweight as a child or did you gain weight as an adult)?
I was always the fat girl! I weighed 166 pounds in sixth grade and kids can be really mean.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I started to have health issues like high blood pressure and my blood sugar numbers (glucose) were going up every physical. I couldn’t bear to be over 300 pounds! On my last physical I weighed in at 299 pounds.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Fitness! Exercise is the way to go!

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Keeping myself motivated to workout. I hated it and it was so hard for me!

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Six months.

Two years.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
Eight years. The key for me is exercising and staying on track with a healthy lifestyle!

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
susan-weight-loss-story-5I teach a kickboxing class and see people every day who look to me for motivation. I had and still have so many people who helped me along my journey and I must pay it forward. I cannot let them down!

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
I am very confident and I feel I can do anything. I can buy pretty clothes now and I feel like who I was meant to be!

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Take baby steps. You didn’t gain it all in one day, so you’re definitely not going to lose it all in one day either!

Boiled egg, yogurt, fruit, coffee.

Burgers, fish, chicken, salmon, and a lot of veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, salad, etc.

Peanut butter, yogurt, bananas, apples, popcorn, hummus with veggies.

What type of nutritional supplements do you take?
I do not currently take any supplements.
