William’s Weight Loss Interview!

How much did you lose (pounds, inches, dress/pants size)?
I lost 140 pounds in 9 months!

When did you become unhappy with your weight (were you overweight as a child or did you gain weight as an adult)?
I was overweight my whole life and accepted my “fate” as being overweight. I played football in college and once my career ended, my weight ballooned to well over 300 pounds. I’m not exactly sure how much over 300 I was because the scale shot straight to 300 when I got on and, like most non-digital scales, stopped at 300 pounds. I was probably around 345 pounds!

What made you decide to lose weight?
I suffered a heart attack at the age of 27 so the fear of dying is basically what did it for me.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Consistency.

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Self doubt in wondering if I was in fact meant to be overweight or if there was actually hope for me to be skinny. How long did it take you to start to see results?
Within the first month I saw immediate results because I was so large. Within 9 months, I was down 140+ pounds. I know that because one of my best friend’s weddings was on New Years and the tailors kind of hated me because I was constantly being refitted. How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took 9 months to reach my current weight.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have maintained my weight for 7 years!

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
What motivates me is my desire to be an example for those looking to lose weight. When I was losing weight, there was no one that I could look at and say “he/she is just like me and If they can do it, I can do it.” I want to be a face of hope and the face of change.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
Not much aside from being able to reach others looking for help.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Take things day by day. You didn’t gain all the weight overnight. You won’t lose it that way either. Look at each pound lost as what it is, one pound. If you try to take on your total weight loss goal all at once, you’ll be severely overwhelmed. Make smart choices and don’t go for a complete overhaul. Pick one thing and make it a priority. For example; wake up at the same time every day. Once that becomes routine then choose a new priority. That’s how a true lifestyle change happens. William’s Weight Loss Tips!
