Sophia’s Weight Loss Interview!

How much did you lose?
I lost 92 pounds and went from a size 18-20 to a size 0-2!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I gained weight as I began adulthood. I started yo-yo dieting for years and by doing that I lost weight but then rebounded and I re-gained all the weight back.

What made you decide to lose weight?
When I was bending down one day I could hardly tie my own shoes. I felt like I was completely out of breath and that was the turning point for me.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
At first, I had a very strict diet. I worked out with an awesome personal trainer that believed in me and never gave up on me even when I wanted to give up on myself. I’d like to give a big shout out to Mitchell Edwards who is the best trainer ever!

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
My emotional eating was very challenging to deal with and I had to replace it with more exercise. Moving to a new city and leaving my family was a very difficult transition. With no family or friends, I turned to food for comfort.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
My first six months ended up with results in lost inches but no changes on the scale. I noticed my clothes were beginning to feel looser on me like they were going to fall off.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
I’ve been on my journey since 2013 and now I’m in a lifestyle change but it took about a year to lose my first 70 pounds.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I’m going on two years. I maintain my weight loss by staying focused and committed. I’m not looking at this like a diet anymore but a true lifestyle change.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
Staying faithful with my journey. I’m a certified spinning instructor and a licensed Zumba instructor. I never knew at 45 years old that I could achieve these things.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
I feel better and encourage others to get healthy. I am so happy that God has allowed me to touch so many with my journey. I have energy and confidence and belief that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
It takes time so don’t give up! Age is just a number and as long as you have breath in your body then you can take your life back.

Baked food with turkey, green vegetables, fruit.

What do you normally eat for snacks?
Fruit, crackers, almonds, Wheat Thins.

What type of nutritional supplements do you take?
I take a one-a-day multivitamin for women.

Sophia’s Weight Loss Workouts!

What do you do for weight training (exercises, workouts)?
I workout 6 days a week. I do 3 days of weight lifting and include cardio all 6 days.

What do you do for cardio training (exercises, workouts)?
I like doing the elliptical machine, running, step aerobics, kickboxing, boot camps, spinning, Zumba.
