Sean’s Weight Loss Interview!

How much did you lose?
I lost 115 pounds in 12 months, went from a 58″ waist to a 38″ waist and a 6X shirt to an XL!

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I was in excellent shape when I was a child until after I graduated high school. It was in college when all of the bad decisions started and I let my body go. I enjoyed food and I lived to eat. Now I eat to live.

What made you decide to lose weight?
My doctor! I had my yearly checkup and I was a diabetic and had high cholesterol (337) along with having high blood pressure. He simply told me that if I didn’t make any changes I was going to die. This is one reason I love my doctor so much. He was completely honest with me.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
My mindset. The snacking and the quantity of how much I ate changed drastically. If you can picture it in your mind, you can do it. Nothing is impossible, just believe in yourself and you will achieve it. It doesn’t matter what everyone thinks. As long as you believe in yourself then anything is achievable.

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
The cravings. I had such a sweet tooth and I also loved fried foods. So giving these two things up were extremely difficult for me. Now when I eat these things, which is not often, I eat them in moderation.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took about a month to see results. I lost 36 pounds my first month.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took 12 months to reach my current weight.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I’ve only kept my weight off for a couple of months. But my mindset is focused on never going back to the way I was. I didn’t call it a diet but a real lifestyle change.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
My Family. They have been with me the entire way. We took on this journey together. My wife has lost 102 pounds and my son has lost 90 pounds! Doing this with my family made it so much easier.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
It was good before, but now it’s great. I can buy clothes from any store. I can do my job so much easier and pastoring the church is much simpler. I can get around without being tired and I always have energy now.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Just keep your head up. You will have ups and downs but just try to keep on course and stay focused. You have to remember that you didn’t gain it overnight and you’re not going to lose it overnight. Enjoy the journey because it will only get better.

How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
ShapeFit’s success stories are very inspirational. When I first started my lifestyle change, I would read the success stories and I would say, “This is going to be me!”
