Manu’s Weight Loss Interview!

How much did you lose (pounds, inches, dress/pants size)?
I lost 40 pounds and dropped 5 inches off my waistline!

When did you become unhappy with your weight (were you overweight as a child or did you gain weight as an adult)?
It wasn’t until the day that the word “average” made a permanent place in my life. That’s when I decided to put down the fork and spoon, turn off the television and start working out!

What made you decide to lose weight?
Not being able to make significant progress in my favorite sport (field hockey), while sitting in the South Asian subcontinent where being a college dropout and not being an entrepreneur sounds like a crime. I lacked basic confidence that an entrepreneur should have.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Consistency is the key to progression. Each workout has to have a presence every day even if it is for a short duration, such as 10-15 minutes. If you can’t go to a gym, use a stepper, or go outside for a quick run. You can even just do sit-ups and push-ups at home. You should focus on moving your body every single day.

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Not seeing results right away was tough. It’s important to remember that results will not come overnight. Sticking to your fitness routine and trusting yourself is the toughest and most pivotal part of success. Managing my time and effort with a corporate lifestyle was the toughest part.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took about a year before I noticed considerable results.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took 2 years for me to reach where I’m currently at with my physique.

Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight? If so, how did you deal with it?
Weight training along with cardio in a calculated manner will help with any loose skin problems.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have sustained my weight loss and also my muscle growth for 2 years now. My body is crafted in the kitchen and grown while working out. It’s not about dieting at all, it’s all about eating clean for a lifetime.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
Recognition, appreciation and a high level of productivity within my work atmosphere is what keeps me motivated.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
I have embraced my baldness with confidence and I’m proud of it! Every style of fashion and clothing that I couldn’t try on before is now in my wardrobe. My body has overtaken the shortfall of hair 🙂

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Stay focused! You might feel tired in the beginning and see no value in your journey, but trust me, with time you will see a meteoric rise in many smiles on your face when you succeed!
