How To Get Rid Of Obesity

Obesity is a chronic health condition in which an individual is persistently overweight. The body keeps on gaining fat mass and the ratio of fat tissue to muscle tissue reaches to dangerous levels. A measure of obesity is the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is the ratio of an individual's weight to the square of their height. A BMI of 30 or more means that you are obese.

Obesity is not a condition to be taken lightly, no pun intended, it poses great dangers to the individual's health and lowers the natural defense mechanisms of their body. Obese persons are at a greater risk for contracting other chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and certain kinds of cancer as well. What all this means is that you should be thinking very seriously about your obesity. Here you'll read some great tips about how to fight your obesity;

1. Drink More Water: the importance of water for weight loss and especially in fighting obesity simply can't be overstated. Water acts as a natural appetite suppressant, so it will keep you from over eating. Also, when you're one of those soda or soft drink lovers, then your body is probably suffering from dehydration. Dehydration causes another problem, known as water retention, in which the body starts retaining water in every cell because it is not getting the healthy supply it needs. This causes the body to appear plump and you gain weight due to the water as well. When you are an avid water drinker, your weight will fall quite rapidly due to loss of water retention. If you're wondering how much water is good for you, just remember that 70% of the human body is water and 92% of blood is water, so you really can't have too little. As a rule a healthy adult should take 8 glasses of water daily. For weight loss, you should take an extra glass for every 25 pounds of excess weight.

2. Green Tea: although tea, regardless of whatever kind of tea it is, is simply great for health, but green tea stands out as the bona fide weight loss drink. The Chinese have used green tea for centuries as a cure for obesity and research has shown that green tea helps to speed up the metabolism, thereby causing burning of fat stored in the body. Also the anti-oxidant properties of green tea help remove toxins from the body and increase your immunity against diseases. For all these reasons experts recommend taking a cup of freshly brewed green tea on a daily basis to reduce weight.

3. Cut Back on Carbohydrates: eating too many carbs; white rice, white sugar, refined cereals etc, will lead to raised blood sugar levels. Often these will result in insulin imbalances. The result is that the individual gains weight. Such 憇ugary' foods tend to get digested easily and are converted to energy before any other nutrient. They give a spur of energy to the body which is very short lived. Once the initial 憇park' is over the body craves more sugar, and the cycle goes on. The result is an increase in weight and fat stores. Go for complex carbs, such as brown rice, brown sugar, whole grain, etc. And take down the total percentage of carbs in your daily diet to 10-15%.
