I Threw My Scale In The Trash & Ive Never Felt Better About Myself

My name is Andrea, I'm a holistic health and business coach, and I haven't weighed myself in over a year.

(GASP!)

We live in a society where appearance and weight play a huge role in our lives — too huge in my opinion. And it just makes me feel icky, not free.

So when I stepped on the scale that fateful day last November feeling totally jazzed about how I had been looking and feeling lately — no muffin top? Check. High energy? Check. Running and doing yoga on a regular basis? Check? Green juice glow? Check. — I saw a high number I'd never seen before.

I instantly felt deflated. Sad, disappointed, angry at myself.

"How could this be?!" I thought. "I've been doing so well. Eating all the right foods, working out, my clothes fit well, I FEEL GREAT! What gives, scale?"

My whole life, I dreaded the scale. I did Weight Watchers for years and my least favorite part was stepping on that scale. Some days I would leave in tears when the scale betrayed me, after I'd had a "perfect" week according to their check lists and daily logs.

And then there were the times when I'd obsess over that scale, weighing myself multiple times a day: when I woke up, before a workout, after a workout, before a meal, after a meal, before bed.

So after that day in November, I decided I was no longer going to allow a stupid piece of machinery to dictate how I was going to feel anymore. It had been ruling my life and dictating how I felt for far too long. I picked it up and threw it in the trash. And I haven't looked back since. I have no idea how much I weigh. But you know what I do know? That I feel freaking fabulous.

I workout nearly every day. I eat healthy foods 90% of the time. I have glowing skin, thick hair and strong nails. And for inquiring minds, I recently had a physical and lab work done and I was given a one out of ten for my health, the best it can possibly be.

See, the scale made me feel trapped, small, not good enough. I never felt free, and since feeling free is my main goal in life, I knew I had to end the cycle and get rid of it. And I'm really happy I did.

Now I want you to think of something that makes you feel small, trapped, not good enough in your life.

Is it the scale? Your bedroom decor? An ugly old pair of shoes that you just don't want to part with because you got them on sale? Or perhaps something bigger like a relationship in your life that just doesn't fill you up anymore or a demanding career that leaves you stressed and crying at the end of each day?

Whatever it is, think about what the one thing you can do to either eliminate it or better it this week so you can feel more free.

It can be simple as simple as throwing your scale in the trash. It doesn't have to be drastic unless you want it to be. When we release and detox ourselves of those things that no longer serve us, only then can we move forward and experience true freedom in our lives. For me, it was the scale.

What's holding you back from feeling free? Let it go.
