3 Healthy, Easy Ideas for When You’re Craving a Late Night Snack

Some nights I’ve been guilty of whipping myself up a little second dinner. Even after eating a big, healthy and satisfying meal, a few hours later the hunger pangs get the best of me. But I’ve learned that instead of making my way to the drive-thru window, or defrosting that preservative filled frozen pizza, I just whip of one of these recipes to give me a filling, late night fix.

#1 Egg and Avocado Sandwich

Easy, tasty and it includes a superfood. Whip up an egg to your liking and place on the bottom half of a whole-wheat English muffin with a sliced avocado as your topper. Avocado is rich in fatty acids and is very filling.

#2 Baked Kale Chips

Kale is raved about for it’s nutrient properties, and crunchy, flavourful chips are a great way to reap it’s benefits. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and peel your kale, discarding the ribs. Place the kale leaves on a baking sheet and coat with olive oil (you can add in nut butters, garlic, chill powder or other spices for flavour). Then simply bake until crispy, let cool and enjoy!

#3 Yogurt and Fruit

Very satisfying for your sweet tooth, without causing a late-night sugar rush. Top plain, unsweetened yogurt with blueberries, raspberries or strawberries, some granola or oats and drizzle with a little bit of honey.
