5 Diet Mistakes Women Often Make That Prevent Weight Loss

If you are a woman trying to lose weight, you are far from alone. Sometimes all the hard work seems to go nowhere. You try and you try and yet the weight refuses to budge! But don’t worry, those hours at the gym are not really a waste. You are likely just guilty of one of the following mistakes. A few slight adjustments and you could be seeing the results you desire!

1. Eating Less

Getting fit cannot be achieved by eating less. In fact, it can do the opposite. In order to be healthy, you should be eating a MINIMUM of three, nutritious, meals a day. Skipping meals can make you feel drained, kick your body into survival mode causing it to hold on to fat, and even lead you to overeat at the end of the day.

2. Prioritizing The Number

If you spend too much time thinking about the number on the scale, you will be ignoring your overall fitness. Exercise and eating properly are the keys here. In order to lose weight, you need to burn fat over muscle — the scale doesn’t know the difference. Think about how you feel. Are you more energized? Does your body look more toned? Those are the results you want.

3. Crash Diets

Crash diets seem like a great shortcut at first. They give you results right out the gate but do they really work? Nope. Crash diets can lead to a loss in muscle tissue which is required for fat burning. So while you might lose weight, you will end up with a flabby body and a slow metabolism. And the worst part is, when you stop the diet, the weight will come back.

4. Weight Loss Pills

Weight loss pills are a fad, but like crash diets, women flock to them in crazy large numbers. There are many categories of pills on the market and the truth is, none of them have any real impact on your weight loss. In fact, these pills contain chemicals that may screw up your entire system. It is best to avoid them at all costs.

5. Skipping The Strength Training

Diet and exercise work together when it comes to weight loss. But the exercise can’t just be straight cardio. Strength training can increase your metabolism and lead to a greater number of burned calories. It also helps you to build muscle and the more muscle you have, the more effective you will be at burning fat.

Are you guilty of any of these mistakes? Have you been guilty in the past? How did you make the necessary changes to get results?
