3. Cayenne Pepper

 

Cayenne pepper can help you burn calories and keep your hunger levels in check. Hot peppers and hot sauce can have this same impact.

Studies have found that the phytochemical capsaicin, can increase your metabolism and therefore increase your fat burn. Add it to your soups, salad dressings, and even your smoothies (it pairs beautifully with cocoa), for a boost. Just tread lightly, things can get mighty spicy, mighty fast.

4. Turmeric

 

Inflammation is a key player in many health troubles, including obesity. Fortunately, turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. The active ingredient,  curcumin, can reduce obesity and help you heal several other ailments. Turmeric is a staple in Indian dishes but is also great sprinkled on vegetables. Make sure to buy whole flaxseeds and grind them yourself in a coffee grinder as the fatty acids can go rancid in a hurry.
