Losing Weight In 2016, But Where Do You Begin

Featured Losing Weight In 2016, But Where Do You Begin

Surveys have identified that most Americans decided to take on “losing weight” as their New Year’s resolution for 2016, as the same with 2015.  It is always losing weight, start eating healthy, get more exercise or get a healthier lifestyle every year.

This may be because of the attitude of a person on the previous year, reported researchers of the Nielsen survey.

“For example, 43 percent of Americans say they plan to lose weight by making healthier food choices, but 76 percent said they did not follow a weight loss or diet program in 2014.”

For a fact, it is very difficult to lose weight especially if everybody is confused on which diet regimen they should follow. The scientific community has released confusing reports just this 2015.

“Butter is good for you,” “Red meat can cause cancer,” “Carbohydrates is okay, it is the fat that you should cut,” and a lot more.

People who were counting calories were advised to stop and count the number of bites instead.  All of these can be very confusing.

If you have decided to lose weight this 2016, do you know where to begin?

The way a person metabolizes a certain food differs from one to another.  This was proven by an Israeli study done last month.  By asking a number of respondents to eat the same kind of meals, they have found that the effect of one food to some is different to another.

Some have even suffered an increase in blood sugar levels just by eating a tomato.

“For this person, an individualized tailored diet would not have included tomatoes, but may have included other ingredients that many of us would not consider healthy, but are in fact healthy for her,” said Eran Elinav, from Weizmann’s Department of Immunology.

What does this mean?  This means that a generalized diet may work for one but may be detrimental to another.

A bit of advice from Dr Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent:  Change your environment a little bit.

A little change may go a long way.  For those who wants to quit smoking, try veering away from activities that reminds you of smoking, have coffee in a non-smoking café.

You might also like to try a different cooking method if you like to eat fried foods.  Steaming or grilling may work since you cook with less fat.

There is nothing bad with having a New Year’s resolution, especially if it means getting a healthier body.  What matters is that you stick to it.
