     Most overweight people would like to know the fastest way to lose weight and are likely to be on the lookout for a short cut with words like fast, easy, quick no exercise required type of weight loss. But first let's look at the reason for the weight gain then all we need to do is reverse the process and weight loss will be ours in the quickest possible way.

Most people are aware they are gaining body fat, when they weigh heavier on the scales, can't fit their clothes and they have become larger it is pretty obvious what is happening. But what is not so obvious is the loss of muscle tissue that happens to all of us after the mid 20's if we are not doing enough strength building and maintaining exercise.

As our modern day lives are devoid of anything that even resembles vigorous physical activity, unless proper exercise is intentionally put back there is no way to keep precious muscle tissue. You see, this muscle is what drives our metabolism (the body's engine). It is what burns a large amount of calories and its loss means that our fat burning machinery is downgraded and therefore burns less fuel.

The rate of muscle tissue loss is around one half pound per year which doesn't sound like much but it mounts up over a ten year period and can mean 20-30 pounds (or more) of increased body fat. This is the root cause of your becoming overweight ?simple as that.

The solution does not lie in dieting as this will only cause you to lose even more muscle tissue setting you up for even bigger health problems in the future. You need to build back your fat burning machinery so it can slowly but surely chew into that stored body fat reducing the health risks, making your feel better and restoring your youthfulness.

There is only one way to do this and this is with strength training exercise. No other type of activity can target your muscles all over your body and tone them up and in the process knock 20 or more years of inactive living off you.

Forget the walking, jogging or cycling or other recreational activities that we used to believe worked for fat loss back in the 1980's. We now know that this is not the way to build you a strong, lean, slim healthy body. And this is what you want isn't it?

So the fastest way to lose that weight is to get started on a proper strength training program. If you have not ever done this type of exercise before it is a wise move to enlist the help of a fitness professional. It is important that you not only learn how to do the exercises correctly but learn how intensely (how hard) you should perform them so you do get results.

To lose the fat even faster you need to eat 5-7 small meals every 2-3 hours throughout the day to supply the energy you need to be able to do justice to your exercise program. These meals should be around 300 calories and contain 20 odd grams of protein. This is not about restrictive food dieting it is about healthful eating, loads of energy and supplying your body what is needs to be in peak health so you can deal to that body fat.
