Be Smart When You Diet For Fat Loss

"Losing weight" is what many people think of when they hear the word diet.

Instead of worrying about the number on the scale, you should actually place all of your focus on a diet for fat loss.

Mull over this?br />
You could weigh 185 pounds but have a very lean, fit, and muscular body, or you could also weigh just 115 pounds but be soft, flabby, and out of shape.

The biggest difference between a diet for fat loss and a diet for weight loss is the effect it has on your levels of lean muscle mass. Your body will look fit and trim with more muscle, even if it adds pounds to the scale.

So, someone who weighs in at 140 pounds and has a lot of lean muscle mass will look better and thinner in their clothes, as opposed to someone who weighs the same on the scale, but is fatter and has less lean muscle. As you can see, traditional diets are all about weight loss, but the most effective diet is a diet for fat loss.

Even though you might only lose a few pounds per week if you diet correctly, the truth is that you're swapping out your light but ugly fat for heavy but attractive lean muscle mass. Plus, this new muscle will help you keep the fat off without dieting because it naturally burns more calories than fat all on its own.

Now, in addition to being able to wear smaller clothes and look better, your body will automatically burn more calories thanks to the fact that you have less fat and more muscle.

So why don't regular diets work?

A lot of these diets are too restrictive because they force a severe reduction in caloric intake and in turn, your body loses water and muscle instead of the fat you want to lose. So although you may weigh less on the scale at the end of the month, you'll still have that same soft, flabby appearance you were trying to get rid of.

Also, if you aren't building muscle mass and encouraging your body to burn more calories naturally, get ready for a lifetime of restrictive diets to maintain a thin physique. As long as you diet for fat loss along with a muscle building plan, you will drop fat and keep it off without having to worry about maintaining a restrictive diet.

Honestly, not everyone can sustain a difficult diet over the long term, and once that weight comes back, it comes back with a vengeance. The reality is, your body might even gain more weight back because it thinks it's been through a 'famine' and wants to prepare for the next one by storing more calories as fat.

For lasting results, don't diet for weight loss; diet for fat loss to change your body composition and improve your appearance. When it comes to burning fat, if you want realistic results that last, you have to focus on a diet for fat loss.
