My Secret List of Fat Burning Foods

All weight loss plans should focus on maintaining muscle and burning fat. Exercise and proper nutrition are the two most essential factors that can help you burn fat. Of the two, nutrition is the most important factor in a weight loss plan.

In order to burn fat without losing lean muscle, you will need proper nutrition. To help you get started, here's my secret list of fat burning foods. The reason why these fat burning foods are so important is that they will not only help you burn fat like never before but also ensure that you remain healthy by providing your body with all the necessary nutrients in the right ratio. Let's go through all the fat burning foods on my list.

1) Lean Proteins: The number one item on my list of fat burning foods. Lean proteins can be found in lean cuts of red meat, skinless chicken and turkey breasts, and fish (particularly, salmon and tuna). Fish contain some oils, but these are omega-3 oils that are actually healthy for you.

2) Egg Whites: An extremely healthy source of protein, egg white has virtually no fat.It can be served in a white omelet, fried, baked, or poached. Egg whites are available in stores, and if not, you can always separate them from the yolk yourself.

3) Green fibrous vegetables: These include vegetables like broccoli, lettuce, cauliflower, green beans, and celery. All these vegetables contain a lot of vegetable fiber, essential vitamins, and other nutrients. As a result, they are high on my list of fat burning foods.

4) Low Fat Cottage Cheese: Casein and healthy milk protein are found in low fat cottage cheese. Casein helps in avoiding insulin spikes because it slows down the process of absorption of sugar and proteins in the blood stream. For this reason, low fat cottage cheese is also high up on my list of fat burning foods.

5) Other vegetables: Vegetables like peppers, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, and peas are high in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. They work well on any list of fat burning foods and should definitely feature in any fat loss program.

6) Whey Protein: Available in powder form, whey protein also ranks high on my list of fat burning foods. The highest biological value protein is found in whey protein. This implies that the body is able to use almost all of the protein obtained from whey.

7) Whole fruits: As long as you eat fruits that are high in fiber and low in fruit sugar, whole fruits can actually be very healthy. Some fruits are ranked high on the glycemic index; these can result in an insulin spike. Stick to fruits that have a lot of fiber and are ranked low on the glycemic index.

8) Oatmeal: Oatmeal has lots of good fiber, which is partly why it's on my list of fat burning foods. Eating oatmeal won't cause an insulin spike in the body; this is because it is made of complex carbohydrates.

9) Skim Milk: Skim milk is virtually fat free and it contains casein; casein gels in the stomach, allowing the milk protein to be slowly released in the body. Consuming skim milk is a great way of ensuring that your body receives a steady supply of protein.
