     Statistics show that 75% of Americans are overweight. This statistic has been rising decade after decade. The interesting thing to note about the fact that we are so overweight in America is that we are doing more to lose weight than ever before, yet we continue to be overweight. More people are on diets than ever before, eating low fat food, eating low carbohydrate foods and eating lower calories than ever before. So the question at hand is; Why are Americans having trouble losing weight?

1) Most people who are overweight have low metabolism (under-active thyroid, clogged or sluggish liver, and sluggish digestive system)

What does this mean? This means you eat some food and even if you eat a small amount your body doesn't burn it off quickly and instead turns it into fat in your body. When your metabolism is slow there is a good chance that some glands like the thyroid, pancreas, liver, small and large intestines are not working at their optimal level. One of the reasons that a metabolism can slow down is from yo-yo dieting (repeatedly losing and gaining weight).

One of the number one reasons why Americans have an under-active thyroid seems to be caused by one contributing factor. The fluoride that we drink in the water. Fluoride is not put in drinking water in other countries. This is one reason why Americans have such a high propensity for an under active thyroid.

Secondly, the liver is a detoxifying organ. When it is clogged up it will slow you metabolism down. One of the main reasons why your liver is not operating properly is the nonprescription and prescription drugs that we have taken throughout our life. Chlorine and fluoride in the water is another cause of clogged liver. Food additives used in processed food and fast food, artificial sweetners and monosodium glutamate all clog the liver too.

Last but not least, people with sluggish digestive systems have a problem with producing digestive enzymes. If your not producing enough digestive enzymes your food does not get converted as energy and has a higher chance of being stored as fat. What causes you not to have enough digestive enzymes? It appears to be candida yeast overgrowth from antibiotics that were taken at one point in your life.

2) The majority of people who are overweight eat when they are not hungry

This is normally caused by two factors : (a)stress or emotional eating, which is caused by stress or emotional issues or (b) physiological food cravings which are normally caused by toxins you put in your body or candida yeast overgrowth.

3)Most people who are overweight have a large appetite

This hunger is generally caused by your body's inability to assimilate nutrients due to the lack of digestive enzymes and candida yeast over growth. Another reason that you are hungry is that certain common food additives actually increase your hunger.

4) Most people who are overweight have hormonal imbalances

The imbalance is generally caused by excess toxins in your body or lack of walking.

5)Most overweight people eat larger portions than thin people.

This is caused by a combination of factors: larger appetite, inability to assimilate nutrients, physiological cravings, emotion and stress issues, and the food industry's increasing the size of portions.

6) Overweight people consume more "diet food"

Here is a major mind blower. Most diet foods actually make you fatter. Diet products labeled "diet", "low fat", "sugar free", "low calorie", "low carb" etc.. are filled with artificial sweetners, high amounts of sugars or chemical additives that actually make you fatter. Actually the additives that are put in these products can actually increase your appetite and make your physically addicted.

7) Most overweight people are highly toxic

Toxins lodge primarily in the colon and fat cells throughout the body. When you are highly toxic your body demands that these toxins be diluted. This causes your body to retain water and increase its fat stores in an attempt to dilute the poisons. This is why you notice people who take lots of drugs become bloated and obese with time.

8) Most people overweight eat before going to bed

When you sleep, your body's metabolism slows down dramatically. When you eat late at night the food does not get a chance to burn off and converts to fat easier

9) Most people overweight are affected by the growth hormone put in meat and dairy products

Our meats and dairy supply is loaded with growth hormones. These hormones are given to the animals to speed growth in order to increase production and profits. When this is consumed, it leads to obesity. This is one of the reasons why children today are maturing earlier and earlier.

10) Most overweight people see themselves as overweight I am sure you are aware of the phrase " You become what you think about". Overweight people constantly think about their weight, thus creating the undesired result.
