Overcoming Your Excuses Not to Exercise

     There are many reasons that people do not exercise, even though there are hundreds reasons they should exercise. Surveys have showed the about 60 percent of American adults do not exercise as much as they should.

In addition, the surveys also revealed that 25 percent of adults do not bother to exercise at all. There many excuses that are used to avoid exercising, but many of them are easily overcome.

The first excuse that you may use is that you simply hate exercising. This is easy to say when you have had a bad experience with exercising in the past.

Despite this bad experience, you can learn to enjoy exercise. This may seem impossible, but it is not.

Every kind of exercise will be difficult at first, but if you push through the difficulty at the beginning it will be worth it. Your body will become stronger and it may even become easy.

As this happens, you will discover that you like feeling strong. Slowly you will begin to enjoy and then like the exercise for a variety of reasons.

It will be easier to get through the difficult time if you choose to participate in an exercise that fits your personality and lifestyle. Working out with a group can also help you to get through the difficult time.

Not only will you have someone to suffer with, but you will develop more friendships and you will feel an obligation to exercise every day. Most gyms offer group activities that you can sign up for.

Another excuse you may give for not exercising is that you have tried to exercise, but you keep stopping despite your effort to continue exercising. There are many reasons you may quit exercising.

One reason is that you try to do too much exercise too soon. Do not try to jump from no exercise to exercising five to seven days a week will leave you extremely tired.

You will be tired of exercising, tired of the mental struggle to go back to the gym, and tired physically. You will not continue exercising if you are burned out.

The second reason you may quit exercising is if you are confused. If you are not sure if you are exercising correctly or if you do not know how to use the exercise machines you will likely choose various exercises with not structure or meaning.

This will not provide you with a proper workout and you may not see the results you desire. As a result, you will stop exercising.

The third reason you may quit exercising is that you have become bored. You will want to consistently change up how you exercise or risk becoming bored.

The fourth reason you may stop your workout routine is if you are very sore. It is very normal for a beginner to be sore when they begin exercising.

However, even a severe beginner should still be able to move. If you are so sore that you have trouble moving in the morning, you will need to change your routine to be less difficult and build up to the point you want to be at.

In order to overcome the temptation to quit, you may want to work with a trainer. A trainer will know enough exercises to keep your workout routine interesting.

He or she will also be able to make sure that you are performing exercises that are very effective and productive. You will see results as long as you stick to a trainer's routine.

However, if you cannot afford to hire a trainer, you may simply want to try changing your routine once in a while. Develop the mental toughness to not skip a single workout unless you are severely ill.

Another reason you may not exercise is because you cannot afford a gym membership. However, do not limit yourself to working out in a gym.

You do not have to work out in a gym in order to exercise. You may want to look at other fitness centers if must workout indoors.

YMCA and other community centers may have cheaper prices than the big chain gyms. There are many ways to exercise outside of a gym.

You do not even have to go outside. You can purchase a treadmill to use in your home or you can simply begin performing no equipment workouts.

There are many ways to overcome the reasons you face when you are trying to convince yourself not to exercise. You will thank yourself for not giving in to your own excuses.
