Tips on how to Lose Stomach Fat

It's been a dieter's dilemma for ever. Other than starving yourself or working out non-stop is it possible to lose your stomache fat. Can you shrink your belly with out over losing weight in other areas?

In the past, dieters believed that doing endless sit-ups and crunches would target the fat in their abdominal region.Unfortunatly targeting a certain area to lose fat is a myth, and this myth has been put to rest. Reducing tummy fat is not possible with out reducing overall fat percentage. Fortunatly with the right combo of diet and exercise its possible to reduce your fat which helps make the stomache look slimmer

Food that helps fight the fat

Some foods promote extra baggage around the middle, and others reduce tummy fat. It's not just a matter of how much you eat; the types of foods you eat can also have a drastic effect on your waistline.

For instance there are some foods and chemicals within the foods we eat that put stress on the system. Nicotine and Caffeine are two of the more popular substances that can act as stimulants. These items increase your heart rate and blood pressure. Our bodies take this as a sign of danger and because of this our vital signs go up. Our bodies hang on to the extra calories by storing them as stomach fat automatically.

Our bodies produce a stress hormone called cortisol and because of this they hang on to the extra fat.Cortisal causes the extra fat storage mainly around the waist. The fat caused by cortisol can be extremly dangerous and has been linked to heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Insulin is produced by our bodies in order to utilize glucose. The problem can get worse from the insulin production. Even when our blood glucose levels are low or normal sweet flavors can trigger a release of insulin, which is a reason that people report feeling hungrier after eating food that contains artificial sweeteners. We can become very hungry when the insulin drives down the blood glucose level. This leads to excessive eating, and accumulation of belly fat.

To reduce tummy fat the best foods to help with this are the ones that do not trigger a flood of insulin, and also do not throw your body into a preservation mode. These foods include the following: Whole grain breads and pastas, whole nuts, vegetables, lean meats, avocados, olive oil, and fibrous fruit which are nutritious and slowly-digestible.

If you can't bring yourself to give up the daily cup of coffee than try making the switch to Green Tea instead. The tea contains enough caffeine to perk you up, plus phytonutrients that provide a host of other health benefits, including a faster metabolism!

Reduce the Tummy Fat with These Exercises

Of course, diet is just one side of the weight loss equation. The other side would be exercise. While it's not possible to target only your abdominal fat, cardio and strength training will help you reduce your overall body fat percentage. You can work your stomach muscles while in the weight losing phase so that your six pack will eventually emerge as the fat goes away.

It doesn't matter what kind of cardio exercise you do; you can walk briskly, go for a swim, jog around your neighborhood, take up martial arts, or spend time working in the garden. Mainly you want to pick an activity that you like and something you can stay interested in at least 3 to 5 times a week. Your heart health will improve, and the pounds will start to vanish - even around your middle.

Strength training is important for fat-burning, too. The bigger amount of muscle you have the more calories that your body can burn and in turn the less fat it stores. Find a strength training regimen you can do for half an hour, three times a week. An ideal routine targets different muscle groups on different days. For example, you could work your biceps and shoulders on Monday, Cardio on Tuesday, triceps and back on Wed, Cardio on Thursday, and Legs on Friday.

Take time in between sessions to rest, and always stay hydrated!Your body won't burn fat as efficiently if you don't drink enough fluids. The rule of thumb is generally drink 8 (8 oz) glasses of water per day.
