Cheat Day With Your Exercise Program

Nobody likes to diet, so for those people who go on diets, the best today is actually the cheat day. This is when people have the opportunity to indulge in things they enjoy eating and take a break from the restrictive diet that they are on. A lot of people often worry however that having a cheat day might harm them and affect their results. But in reality, nothing is further from the truth. There are actually more benefits to having a cheat day than there are downsides.

Basically, you need to focus on cheating in moderation. A cheat day has absolutely no negative impact on your diet and fitness program if you do not overdo it. You can still enjoy some of things you like that are not necessarily good for you and achieve your fitness goals. A good way to switch things up, however, would be to have a cheat meal as opposed to an entire day of cheating. This would allow you to have one meal filled with all the guilty pleasures you want and resume healthy eating throughout the rest of the day.

Again, moderation is the name of the game with a cheat day. It is very possible that if you overdo eating unhealthy foods on your cheat day, you can erase the results of all of the healthy eating and exercise you have accomplished the week before. Overloading on junk food filled with sugar and fat can set you back for days and have you starting your regimen over from scratch.

The important thing is to not spend too much time focusing on the actual cheat day so you do not lose your focus on achieving fitness and health goals. It is a great idea to keep reminding yourself of how much work you have put in to get to this point and how unfortunate it would be if you lose all of that by simply not being able to control yourself. At the same time however, there are certain psychological effects that come with limiting your body's intake of certain things. If you do not have a cheat day or even a cheat meal, your body will start to feel like it is being starved and as a result you will end up having really bad cravings. Most times when people give in to these cravings they go overboard and end up ruining all of their success to that point.

Now as you may know, the body reacts to what it sees as starvation by holding onto fat stores in the body. When you underfeed your structure, it will go into preservation mode because our bodies are made for survival. However, once you have a cheat day and use the opportunity to give your body more calories than you have been giving it for that week, it will start to feel that it is not being starved and will slowly start to release the fat stores so you can see the results.

At no point should you feel that having a cheat day or a cheat meal will spoil your chances of reaching your health and fitness goals. It is in fact a good idea to allow yourself to indulge on your favorite things but what is key is doing it in moderation so you do not lose any of the positive results you have had that thus far.
