Why Is Losing Weight So Difficult For So Many?

Why is losing weight so difficult? And it is very difficult for some. It is due to many things, and many different combinations of things. It has to do with body type, and metabolism. It has to do with how smoothly your body is, and how healthy you really are. Have you heard of silent inflammation? This is inflammation that we are not always aware of. It isn't on the outside of our body that we can see. It isn't usually due to falling, or bumping ourselves. It is the inflammation inside of us that usually causes disease. It is inflammation that gets slowly worse until something goes wrong because it is interfering with the way our bodies run. Inflammation can cause all kinds of issues within us. It can cause heart disease, fibromyalgia, cholesterol, arthritis, and many other aches and pains that we either stick a name on due to symptoms, or that doctors don't know what it is. But, inflammation can also cause us to be overweight. Inflammation can be caused, again by our bodies not functioning at full capacity. But what causes this to happen, is not only what we eat......sugars, white starch, preservatives, and processed foods. It is also caused by what we don't eat. Eating lots of leafy green vegetables, such as Kale, and Spinach, as well as many different brightly colored vegetables: peppers, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, beets, etc. will give our bodies the nutrients that it needs to fight off the problems caused by the other things we eat. The more good, healthy nutritious foods we eat, the less of the other foods we will want. Even though the healthy nutritious foods will help our bodies fight the damage from the sugary, starchy foods, we still need to not go overboard, and eat as few calories from the sugary starchy foods as possible, because one issue is, if you are eating too much inflammatory foods, you are filling your body, and you don't eat enough of the good foods because you are full....yes, you are correct, it is just one big vicious circling, snowball effect.

But....aside from that, there are other reasons why you are not losing weight. It has to do with hormones. There are many different hormones in our bodies. I am sure you have heard of cortisol...the hormone that is affected by stress and sleep. Too much cortisol, and we begin to gain weight. There are also issues with estrogen, especially once you get into your 40s and pre menopausal years. There are thyroid hormones as well. There is a lot of trial and error in weigh loss, and a lot of trying to find out exactly what your body is trying to tell you specifically. You may have one issue or many. But it is definite that once you figure it out you will feel better, not only losing weight, but you will have less cravings, less fatigue, less stress, etc. The many different parts to the equation are why many people hire a health coach. You can experiment on your own, but someone who knows exactly what to look for makes it quicker, and more effective. A health coach will be able to tweak a program specifically for you, and will also support you on your journey to reaching your goals. A health coach will also hold you accountable and get you well on your way to a healthy lifestyle. If you think about the time, energy, stress, and money people spend trying to fix either health issues, or weight issues, and many times come up only frustrated, a health coach for some is a great investment in a longer, healthier, happier life.
