The Secret To Avoiding The Energy Crash

Does knowing what's best way to keep your energy up throughout the work day seem challenging sometimes? If so, you'll want to see what Daniel Topkis, MS has to share with you below.

Q: I often crash at mid-day and get very tired. What foods are best to keep my energy up throughout my work day?

A; Many people complain of NOT having enough energy, especially throughout their work day.

The two most important things to consider for energy are:
a) What you eat and drink
b) Getting quality sleep

Here we will address what you eat and drink

One of the best ways to think about foods for energy is to ask two questions:

1) Will this be easy for me to digest?
2) How hard will my body work to digest this?

You don't need a Ph.D. in nutrition to figure this out - just use your intuition.

What's important to know is that digestion can take up a tremendous amount of energy and the foods you eat that are the simplest (not complex combinations) will be best.

For example, fruits are loaded with water and fiber, they are cleansing and easy to digest. Therefore, they give you energy. So do salads and vegetables.

Anything that is a whole food that exists in nature will be easier to digest than any processed food for the most part.

A bagel or muffin with many different ingredients will be difficult to digest. This is processed.

One great rule of thumb is to "keep it simple." The foods with the least amount of ingredients will be easier to digest than foods with many different ingredients. Most processed foods have 20 - 40 ingredients in them. They will rob you of energy.

An exercise I highly suggest in the "Guide to Home Based Business" is to go through your kitchen and eliminate any and all foods that have 10 or more ingredients in them.

Do not eat any of these foods for a week.

Notice then what happens to your weight and your energy levels that week.

Self-care is health care,
