The Twinkie Diet - Should I Try It?

What Is The Twinkie Diet?

So you may have heard of Mark Haub and this Twinkie Diet that he's created. If you haven't... then maybe that's a good thing.

Mark Haub, a human nutrition expert, has taken on the challenge of losing weight while on a "Twinkie diet" - a diet which consists mainly of junk food.

Haub's daily meal plan is made up of a breakfast that includes a snack like a Twinkie, a sugary cereal with milk and a coffee. Lunch is usually similar, and is followed by an afternoon snack of more Twinkies or similar cakes. Then for dinner he eats a low calorie veggie meal with some milk to drink, followed by a dessert.

Now, this whole meal outline might seem confusing, right? You might be thinking "Hey, how come every other diet is telling me I need to eat healthy foods and exercise, but this guy lost weight eating junk!?"

Well, Mark himself has stated that he is not recommending this diet to anyone or trying to promote it - and that is probably because even he knows that it is not the best diet a person should be on.

So Why Did It Work For Mark?

When you break down all the different ways to lose weight (including Marks), they all come back to the core principals behind weight loss - if you consume more calories than you expend over the course of a day, you will gain weight - and if you consume less calories than you expend over each day, you will lose weight. That's just the truth, something that has been proven countless times.

Mark has said that he is eating "1800 calories a day, or less" and also exercising for "roughly sixty minutes, to an hour and twenty minutes a week". So, bearing in mind the rules for weight loss, as long as he is expending more calories than he is consuming - he will lose weight.

Should You Try It...

Of course, this issue is still in its infancy - and the creator of the diet is even hesitant to say positive things about it and recommend it, especially when considering the other issues it could have on human health.

Monitoring the amount of calories you are eating and controlling them is one thing, but a five year olds paradise diet consisting of nothing but high sugar snacks and sweets would wreak havoc on any persons blood sugar levels. Eating such diets throughout the day would mean that a severe insulin spike would follow every meal, which the human body is just not designed to cope with.

What's The Better Way?

The tried and tested means of weight loss still stand because they have been, you guessed it, tried and tested! It has been proven time and time again that the healthiest way to lose weight is to manage your diet so that it includes a healthy arrangement of meals, evenly placed throughout the day. And increasing the amount of exercise that you do on top of this.

Now maybe this idea is such a tricky thing for people because they haven't really been told the best ways to lose weight and diet, without being fooled into believing that they need to cut out every nice meal they look forward to. But the myth that you must eliminate every nice meal to lose weight is simply not true.

What you should use instead is a complete course that is a healthy alternative to the Twinkie diet - and since this is one of those well tested things, you know that the success stories are genuine and the same results can be achieved by you!
