Doritos Commercial During Super Bowl Clearly Shows That Its Genetically Modified Bt Corn Chips Coupled with Chemical Ingredients Are Addicting and Dangerous.

Did you see the 20-second Doritos commercial in the first quarter of the Super Bowl? If so, you were among the 111 million viewers who did. It depicted a guy eating Doritos at this desk while another crazed-looking worker looked over his shoulder. The crazed-guy says, “Are you going to finish those [Doritos]? You left the best part! Ohmmm, cheese!” Then he grabs the hand of the co-worker and starts sucking the cheesy chemical leftovers off the worker’s fingers like a trembling addict.

Then, a co-worker finishes a separate bag of Doritos and wipes the cheese stuck on his hands onto his pants. The same crazed-worker rips the pants off his co-worker and, with a crazed and obsessed look on his face, sniffs the leftover cheese chemicals from the Doritos from the co-worker’s pants much like a cocaine addict in withdrawal.

The Doritos’ commercial intentionally depicted a man obsessed and addicted to Doritos. Sadly, the addiction to chemicals contained in Doritos is real. Apparently, Doritos and their advertising firm think it’s cool to be addicted – in this case to junk food.

The popular-selling Doritos contains 39 different ingredients? Yet it only takes three to make tortilla chips at home. Of the remaining 36 ingredients, only two, Romano and cheddar cheeses, are not chemicals (but they are made from factory farmed cows fed GMO Bt corn). So what are the other 34 ingredients? They are artificial chemicals added to make the cheese flavor that the actor in the commercial licks from his co-workers fingers and pants.

Are these chemicals addicting? Absolutely! Addiction to certain foods is also caused by the same or similar chemicals placed in as many as 9,000 different products on your market shelves, in the freezer section, in your favorite restaurants and fast food chains.

Artificial flavors, natural flavors and flavor enhancers added to the corn chips can contain upwards of 200 separate esters (chemicals) to make one flavor. According to Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, it takes more than 50 chemicals to make a Burger King Strawberry Milk Shake.

The reason you don’t see these chemicals on labels is that the creation of artificial flavors, natural flavors and flavor enhancers (created in laboratories) used in their recipes are considered intellectual property and are protected as though they are “top secret”. The corporations trade secrets are treated with greater deference than the people who eat their food.

Doritos also contain empty and addictive carbohydrate fillers like MSG, dextrin, maltodextrin, dextrose, flour, a combination of corn oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, sunflower oil and corn syrup solids from genetically modified foods soaked in pesticides. Yes, pesticides!

And many of these chemicals such as MSG, Maltodextrin and corn by-products are excitotoxins which are chemicals added to make you addicted to foods like Doritos. Russell L. Blaylock, MD chronicles the dangers of MSG in his seminal book, Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills. Scientists have warned about the dangers of excititoxins since the 1950s.

The corn used to make Doritos is Monsanto’s genetically modified (GMO) Bt corn. Monsanto’s GMO corn is engineered with Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) to produce their own built-in pesticide in every cell. Simply put, the Bt toxin is part of plant's DNA and repeats itself in every cell. When bugs bite the plant, the poison splits open their stomach and kills them.

We hypothesize (and provide a bevy of references) in our books that when humans eat foods with Bt toxin in it, the toxin increases their likelihood of encountering Crohn’s disease, IBD, IBS, ulcers, diabetes, heart disease and other illnesses because of the bacterial residue left in the stomach and colon. Recent studies show that digestive diseases arise from “bad” bacteria in the stomach and colon. What other cause could there be other than Big Food’s use of GMO corn and soy?

GMO Bt corn is further contaminated by the need to soak it in multiple applications of herbicides and pesticides. The Bt toxin produced in GMO plants soaked in multiple applications of Bacillus thuringiensis is thousands of times more concentrated than natural Bt spray used for fumigation.

Studies confirm that even the less toxic natural bacterial spray is harmful. Unlike the spray, the gene spliced Bt toxin can't be washed off. Bt toxin is designed to be more toxic and has the properties of an allergen.

At an international meeting of entomologists in Basel, Switzerland, experts warned that GMO Bt corn crops exude 10 to 20 times the amount of toxins than conventionally grown crops. When dispersed by plane to kill gypsy moths in the Pacific Northwest, about 500 people reported allergy or flu-like symptoms. Some had to go to the emergency room. Bt corn was also implicated in the deaths of cows in Germany, and horses, water buffaloes and chickens in the Philippines.

A study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology found that genetically modified Bt corn causes significant kidney and liver toxicity and leads to the retention of as much as 35% more sodium and phosphorus in the body. The raw experimental data – over a thousand pages – was kept confidential by Monsanto until Greenpeace obtained a 2005 order from a German court to release the documents.

A November 2008 study by the Italian government found that mice have an immune system reaction to Bt corn. Even Monsanto's own research showed significant immune system changes in rats fed Bt corn.

In Zambia, Monsanto's GMO Bt corn is given by the U.S. as food aid where it is the subject of controversy and public outrage. The Bt GMO corn dissolves the digestive system of the caterpillars that farmers in Zambia eat for protein. The people of Zambia are concerned that the Bt toxin in the GMO corn that dissolves a caterpillar's digestive system will harm humans too. Their fears are supported by a mountain of independent research and studies.

In 1999, one of the European Union's most respected scientists, Dr. Alpad Pusztai found that genetically modified foods can, when fed to animals in reasonable amounts, cause very gradual organ and immune system damage. Efforts to discredit Dr. Pusztai were linked by the British press to a $230,000 Monsanto-funded grant to the Rowett Institute. Despite their efforts, more than 20 world-renowned scientists published papers supporting Dr. Pusztai's research.

According to the 2009 study, Doctors Warn Avoid Genetically Modified Food by Jeffrey M. Smith, Executive Director of the Institute for Responsible Technology and author of Seeds of Deception – the world's best selling book on GMOs:

"This means that long after we stop eating GMOs, we may still have potentially harmful GM proteins produced continuously inside of us. Put more plainly, eating a corn chip produced from Bt corn might transform our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories, possibly for the rest of our lives."

According to noted researcher, Daniel Dantini, MD, in his seminal book, The New Fibromyalgia Remedy, the consumption of GMO Bt corn by humans leads to allergies and delayed food sensitivities. This in turn leads to inflammation in the body and, if continued, will eventually lead to illness including cancer.

The industry can call it what it wants, but creating a new taste dependent on synthetic products endangers the health of our nation by causing weight gain that ultimately results in obesity – particularly in the younger generation that has become addicted to fast foods.

"We're like corn chips walking," says CNN's chief health expert Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He should have said, "We are genetically modified corn chips walking." GMO corn affects the taste of everything from soft drinks to every can and bottle on your grocery store shelves.

It is rare that a company such as the manufacturer of Doritos exposes the weaknesses of its products in a TV advertisement. The ad accurately portrays an American male addicted to their corn chips because of its addictive chemical ingredients. As we point out in our books, eating foods made from genetically modified plants, soaked in pesticides and “spiked” with addictive chemicals will cause you to have a chemical spill inside your brain that kills brain cells.

If you feel addicted to corn chips of any brand including Doritos, the likelihood is that you are addicted, along with millions of other Americans.
