Health through Nutrition
What I pursued in my Personal Story – It is proven with an additional research finding

Here is an article from the Charlotte Observer in North Carolina that I came across, as it happened many times in my personal quest for better health. This one has to do with apples, a filling, delicious and cholesterol lowering fruit. Let me just also share with you what I did to lower my cholesterol, all natural with just including Tofu in my diet. You can also visit my website at www.natureshealingfoods.com where you can see what I did to lower my cholesterol naturally without medication. And here we go for the findings when you eat apples.

Apples are aces in study concerning cholesterol
By: Karen Kaplan

An apple a day really can help keep the doctor away. In a study of 160 women who ate either dried apples or prunes daily for one year; the women who ate apples saw their low-density lipoprotein cholesterol – the “bad” kind – drop by 23 percent after six months. At the same time, their “good” high – density lipoprotein cholesterol rose about 4 percent.

Women in the dried-apple group ate two – thirds of a cup of the fruit each day. Though it added 240 calories to their daily diet, they lost 3.3 pounds on average. They also saw drops in their C – reactive protein, a measure of potentially dangerous inflammation, and lipid hydroperoxide, which can signal higher risk for cardiovascular problem. Researchers from Florida State University decided to put test apples because they contain pectin, which improves the body’s ability to metabolize fat, and polyphenols, which dials back production of inflammatory molecules. Those effects had been demonstrated in animals. Now preliminary data show the same might be true in humans. The next step, researchers say, is to expand the study to women across the country.
