To lose 22 pounds of fat you need to have a very strict diet. You need to eat 1000 calories below your maintenance. Average maintenance calories for men is 2420 calories a day and for woman it is 2100 calories a day, So if you are man eat below 1420 calories a day and if you are are woman, eat below 1100 calories a day. It doesn't matter what you eat so you can eat whatever you want as long as you eat 1000 calories below your maintenance, but i suggest you to eat protein foods like cottage cheese, skinless chicken and egg whites as they are going to make you feel fuller rather than foods that are rich in carbohydrates or fats and has same caloric value. This diet plan might be harmful for certain people, so contact with your doctor before you start following it. This is very brutal diet plan so expect to feel hungry and tired for the first few days or even weeks.

You need to drink 1-2 gallons of water a day. It doesn't make you well hydrated thereby improve your metabolism, skin and overall health, but also is a great weapon against hunger. When you drink huge amounts of water your stomach will be full, so you won't feel hungry. In the beginning it will be hard to drink so much water but you get used to it fast. Don't forget that you should never feel thirst, because thirst means that your body is already dehydrated which is harmful for your health. Water should be only liquid you drink, so avoid anything other than that, especially soda, alcohol and coffee as they contain extra calories that won't feed you and dehydrate you.

Although you will feel very tired in the first few days/weeks, you should exercise. I would suggest you to run for 30-50 minutes 5-6 times a week. You can also take hiking or even walking if you find it difficult to do other exercises. Don't push yourself too hard because you don't know how your body will react on exercising while you are on low calorie diet.

I would suggest also to lift light weights 3 times a week if you have energy for that too. Focus on biggest muscle groups. Don't push yourself too hard, because you could harm yourself.
