How to Lose Weight When Bedridden

If you are bedridden due to some unfortunate reason, then do not be saddened anymore by this. You can also lose weight while lying in bed.

How to Lose Weight When Bedridden

If your condition demands you to be bedridden for some time, don’t give up hope of losing weight. The first thing that strikes our mind when we think of weight loss is ‘exercise’. But how will you workout and lose weight when you are bedridden? By following a weight loss regimen. And here is exactly how you will achieve your goal.

There is a way to escape from adding pounds when your body isn't ready for intensive physical activity. Following are some tips.

Exercises to Perform

Isometric exercises for legs and stomach are considered ideal in helping a bedridden person keep from unwanted weight gain. To do an isometric leg exercise, lie on your back and stretch your legs straight. Now, tighten the thighs by pulling the kneecaps up. Hold this position for five to 10 seconds. To do the isometric stomach exercise, lie on your back with your legs stretched straight.  Now place your palms on the stomach. Inhale to tighten the stomach by pulling the belly button towards the spine. Hold this position for a few seconds.

Right Food Choices

Eating a variety of healthful foods is a key to weight loss when bedridden. Make sure that you structure a weight loss diet chart that has a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and fat-free dairy products in it. Fattening edibles such as chips, chocolates and cookies must be abstained from. Restricting portion size is crucial too. So, don’t push yourself to finish all the food in your plate. Another weight loss tip - never miss the morning meal.

Sleep Sufficiently

Sleep is one of the safest remedies to almost all kinds of sickness because that is what gives the body the rest it needs to recharge itself. Instead of drowning in a depressive state of mind because of your illness, it is better to rest so that your body mechanism gets better and you don’t end up emotional eating and adding on weight.

Drink Water

Water helps expel unwanted substances such as toxins from your body. Besides, drinking water also makes one feel full, thus, controlling appetite. When water is in excess in your body, the rate of metabolic activity improves as calories get easily broken down without the need for exercise.

Do not be discouraged at your state of physical health and inability to keep a check on your weight loss efforts. Instead, do your bit by learning and executing a weight loss plan.
