Is eating 6 times a day really the best weight loss diet?

May be. May be not!

Eating six times a day, instead of three square meals is best for your weight loss goals —a new study published in the science journal Nutrition Research has found.

Nutritionists say eating small but frequent meals is better for your health than three bigger portions. Smaller meals lead to a healthier body composition and less likelihood of loss of ‘fat-free’ body mass.

Eating for Weight Loss

Contradictions to the Study

This study claims that eat six meals a day pattern is beneficial for curbing hunger pangs, speeding up metabolism and controlling blood sugar.
But another new research done by University of Ottawa contradicting that the recent findings that eating frequently is the key to lose weight.

A second study found that switching from three daily meals to six did not boost calorie-burning or fat loss. In fact, the researchers concluded, eating six meals a day actually made people want to eat more.

And a research review reached no conclusions about whether meal frequency helps or hurts with weight loss.

Jennifer Aniston is one of the celebrities that follow the same regime of eating frequent meals a day that had given her a healthy slim figure even the age of 46.  Aniston follows a five meals a day pattern than eating large meals daily.

While eating many meals may not rev up your metabolism or make you burn fat, experts say it could help you in other ways.. The longer you wait between meals, the hungrier you get, and then you’re more likely to overeat.

But that might not be the universal formula.

Calorie Count

What Makes the Difference?

So what makes a difference with weight loss if the number of meals you eat doesn’t?

Number of calorie intake does! Your best bet is to cut your daily calories, regardless of how often you nosh. If you want to eat more often, you can, as long as you keep your calories in check. Unless you burn more caloeries than you consume, you won't los e weight.
