My Weight Loss Success Tips - Separate Myth From Fact

So you are looking for weight loss success tips. I am guessing this is not the first you have read about weight loss, and I know that if you do any research at all on dieting, something becomes obvious - that everyone claims that what they say is right and everyone else is wrong. There are those who say you need to digest less calories and you will lose weight. Then there are those who say that It is what you eat that is much more important than how many calories. Or still others preach exercise and fitness above all else. How do you separate the myths from the facts? Check out the three weight loss success tips below and you will have a bette idea.

Weight Loss Success Tips - Myth #1 - Counting calories is key
While it is true that burning more calories than you eat will cause you to lose weight, the question becomes how long will it last? The body is much smarter than we give it credit for, and it gets used to what we feed it. If you give it 2000 calories a day, it will use those 2000 calories. If you cut that down to 1500 calories, it will help you to lose weight for a while, but eventually your body will slow your metabolism down so that you only burn 1500 calories a day. The real danger with this is when your calorie level returns to normal. You will gain any weight you lost plus some extra because it takes much longer to speed up your metabolism than it does to slow it down.

An interesting article was in Marie Claire this past month where it documented what women from around the world ate, including the amount of calories, along with their height and weight. Interestingly enough, the amount of calories eaten each day did not seem to correlate with the women's weight. I am not at all saying that you can eat as many calories as you want (notice that it takes much longer to speed up your metabolism than it does to slow it down) but just be smarter about the calories that you eat.

Weight Loss Success Tips - Myth #2 - Fat free = no guilt
Stay away from fat free foods! In almost all cases, if fat is removed, something else is put in its place. That something is almost always a mixture of sugar and chemicals. Sugar and chemicals are a bad combination because the sugar adds unneeded calories and the chemicals make it much more difficult for your body to digest the food that you are eating. If you are going to eat ice cream, you are much better off eating regular ice cream than the fat free version.

Weight Loss Success Tips - Myth #3 - Who needs breakfast
It seems logical, but skipping breakfast is one of the worst things you can do if you are trying to lose weight. Many studies have been done on the subject, and they all say that people who skip breakfast weigh more than those who do not - especially those who eat breakfast as well as three to four other small meals a day. Again, it is not the amount of calories that you eat, but what and when you eat. Skipping breakfast slows down your metabolism and kills any chance that you had of prolonged weight loss, no matter how few calories you eat.

Be careful which weight loss success tips you follow. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, the key is a speedier metabolism. By exercising as a matter of usual practice, gobbling 4 to 5 small meals at regular intervals and avoinding anything that has ingredients that you can't pronounce, you will be well on your way to not only reaching, but staying at your ideal body weight.
