Juice Diets – Tip for Juicing The Right Way To Lose Weight

With a huge rise in health conscious dietary choices such as a raw food diet along with vegan and organic, juicing has become a very popular way of getting nutrient dense calories very quickly. Although juicing machines are great, they can get rather expensive with some reaching as high as $700 per unit. Wheat grass juicing uses a special type of juicer which has gained popularity with people who enjoy slow juicing in order to avoid destroying the properties of the end-product. Centrifugal juicers are more of the mainstream product when it comes to cost and overall popularity but are still usually less favorable than wheat grass style juicers.

I have been using several juicing options in my clients’ diets over the last few years. These individuals even include competitive fitness and figure athletes. One of my figure clients had developed a preference for a raw food diet along with juicing and she opted for vegan choices except for a small amount of goat cheese and eggs. She requested that I focus the core of her dietary needs on seeds and produce along with a lower overall protein intake.

Contrary to common belief that only higher protein diets will produce lean muscle gains, my vegan client was actually a multiple first place champion in her figure division as an over 40 competitor who was competing against women half her age. Her overall physique and level of muscle mass is very impressive with incredible symmetry which is why she won several 1st place prizes. What really impresses me is how she never seems to age and always looks much younger than she actually is. She attributes these cosmetic benefits to her strict vegan diet.

If you are not following a raw diet, you can still use whatever bulk fiber is left after you’re finished juicing and then use it for cooking muffins and other various meals. On a raw diet plan you can make use of certain fruit and veggie bulk left from juicing in order to get some of your fiber intake by making delicious raw soup blends. I always tend to lean towards more vegetables during the day versus fruits due to the higher sugar content found in different kinds of fruit. Even though it’s a healthy all-natural source of sugar (fructose), it can still affect your insulin levels which may impede with your fat burning goals.

Several great choices when it comes to choosing fruits and vegetables for juicing include:

  • Parsley
  • Kale
  • Carrots
  • Beets
  • Bananas
  • Tomato
  • Pineapple
  • Ginger
  • Blueberries
  • Grapefruit
  • Wheatgrass

Additionally, some other popular choices are oranges, apples, romaine lettuce, celery, coconut, strawberries and pomegranate.

Parsley has a slight diuretic effect but if you add in some dandelion leaves to your juicer, you can increase this water loss effect even more. Fruits are always a great choice if you need some added natural sweetness. Citrus fruits are one of the most popular choices for those of you who are seeking a bit of tartness to their juice.

Ideally, you should drink your juice as soon as possible after juicing because the juice loses some of its nutrients the longer it sits, especially when it is not kept cool and refrigerated. If you want to use a juicer and then store the juice for later then just make sure to keep it cold and sealed very well to preserve its freshness.

Fresh organics are the best route when it comes to juicing especially because you can use the skins which contain many precious vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. However, when using non-organic foods you probably want to throw away the skins since they are usually loaded with pesticides.

I would not suggest juicing all of your meals throughout the day unless you are on a fasting protocol or a cleansing program suggested by your doctor or if it is religion based. Juicing is a great substitute for your mid-morning and mid-day snacks which come between your main meals during the day, especially if your primary fitness goal is fat loss.

For those of you who are seeking a higher protein intake but still want to stay vegan, a great addition to your juicing recipes would be to use hemp protein. If you’re fine with using regular protein sources then whey is a great choice and comes in many different flavors. By adding some high quality protein powder to your juice, you will have a muscle building meal in a glass made to blast your body with powerful nutrients to help you live a vibrant life!
