How To Get Long Term Results From Weight Loss

It isn’t surprising anymore to see someone so thin now and then overweight a few months later and then thin again. The weight loss cycle can just go on and on and on. This is what others term as the yo-yo dieting.

Weight loss can be pretty motivating in the first few months so a lot of weight watchers can lose several pounds. But after a few months, it becomes quite depriving and sometimes tiring already so a lot of people just let themselves get back to their old eating habits. Then when they realise that oh why did I let myself get back to my old overweight self they start dieting again and lose weight yet again. The result of this type of weight loss dieting is short term.

Weight Loss As A Lifetime Plan

If you are serious about losing weight, you should look at it as a long term or even a lifetime plan. You don’t have to starve yourself. It is not actually how much you eat but what you eat. You can eat a whole plate of fresh fruits and it is better than a tiny slice of greasy burger. You have to be very careful in dieting because the fact is that if you don’t eat, your metabolism slows down. When your metabolism is really slow, your body will have a hard time burning fats. So you will notice that even if you eat just little amount of food, you don’t seem to lose weight anymore. Don’t even get tempted to try the so-called liquid diet as it will ruin your metabolism rate. You will certainly lose a lot of your weight but when you start eating again, you will just pile up on pounds again because your metabolism is already very slow.

A good rule of the thumb in dieting is to keep your metabolism really high. You can do this by giving your body something to burn once in a while. Instead of eating one big meal, divide it in several small meals. This way, your metabolism will keep on working. Once you have conditioned your metabolism rate to work like that, you will no longer have a hard time burning what you eat.

It is a good thing to set your weight loss plan for long term. Don’t set a month or two as your time limit to lose all your excess weight. Weight loss doesn’t happen overnight. It should be a gradual process. Some people are really bad with weight loss plans because they don’t exactly understand weight loss and how to do it right. There are weight loss centres and holistic therapy centres that can actually help you devise a weight loss plan that will be suited for your body type and weight concerns.
