Thermogenesis May Help You Lose Weight

What exactly is thermogenesis? It literally means the creation of heat and has everything to do with energy. Science says that energy is not created or destroyed, but transformed, converted, transported, and stored. Most people know that human's energy comes from what we eat in the form of calories. A calorie is actually the amount of heat needed to heat one gram of water one degree Celsius. As we eat calories, the energy is used throughout our body or stored in the form of fat.

The last part is the diet-induced thermogenesis. Sometimes when you eat a lot you get hot and start to sweat. This is because your body creates more energy that is needed to digest a large amount of food. Your body's temperature rises when it starts to create this energy. Once again, your body is trying to regulate its temperature to 98.7 degrees (f) and you start to sweat. The organ responsible for this function is called the brown fat tissue. This is what keeps animals that hibernate alive during the cold winter months. The brown fat tissue is located around blood vessels and major organs. The blood starts to warm when it is triggered into activity and pumps the warm blood throughout the body.
