Eating food very slowly is a way to prevent ourselves from over eating. This is because you will not have eaten a lot before you actually feel that you are full. Another very easy way to prevent over eating is to drink a glass of ice cold water before your meal. In the same vein drinking a bowl of soup before the first course is a sure shot way to prevent yourself from eating as much as you would have.

Interspersing the day with short meals is another way of keeping yourself from over eating. Every four or five hours ensure that you have something healthy like fruit or salad. This constant nibbling will keep your hunger at bay and will help you not over eat. Another thing that you can do in order to control over eating is having a snack that is very high in carbohydrates and or proteins such as crackers or yogurt about one or 2 hours before your meal time. Sometimes exercising when you feel hungry is a good way to keep appetite in check. When you eat after a good exercise you will not over eat.

Sometimes eating is associated with a place or time. Being clever helps people get over the temptation. If you work in the kitchen table there is sometimes the tendency to go and snack on chips and other high fat food. Removing the work station from the kitchen table can help over come such temptation. Similarly time can be associated with eating. Some people get hungry on given times, if you know that this is not mealtime you tend to eat junk food. Strategically placing walking schedules to coincide with such times can be a good way to prevent over eating. Therefore a little bit of self determination mixed with reshuffling of your schedule and cunning added to few simple tips can help you in kicking the overeating habit.
