You've been struggling for how long to lose those pounds and develop a firmer, healthier tummy? If you're like most people who want to lose weight, you'll probably be hating what you see in your mirror.

And here's your first mistake.

If you can understand this one following point, it could potentially save you years of heartache, not only in your dieting, fitness and health regime but also in other areas of your life.

Your subconscious mind is the part of you which provides everything for you in your life. It's like your own private genie, finding amazing and seemingly miraculous ways to ensure you survive and thrive.

Whatever you want and ask for - whether consciously or otherwise - in your life, your subconscious will martial all of the attracting forces in the universe to manifest your request.

And this is the thing you should be both concerned and cock-a-hoop over.

At the moment, you're thinking "I want rid of this oversized, overweight, flabby belly." You're subconscious is receiving your feelings of disgust and self-loathing as instructions to provide more of the same.

If you look at your belly and touch it with a sense of regret, sadness, spiralling downward to hatred and loathing guess what's more likely to happen? That's right, a bigger belly. Why? Your subconscious thinks that's what you want more of.

The subconscious is like a five or six year-old child with infinite access to all of the power and energy that exists. Your instructions to it via your thoughts and feelings will give you whatever it interprets that you want. It's quite literal and readily tuned into your thoughts backed up by your emotions.

The most effective thing you can do is probably the opposite of what you want to do.

You need to fall in love with your tummy. You need to look at it, touch it, caress it and love it. This is the number one, most crucial step that you'll probably find most difficult to take. However, give it a go and you'll immediately begin to notice the difference.

We've all read about yo-yo dieting and the fact that people put even more weight back on after letting themselves go again.

You can't successfully battle the subconscious impulses and drives to survive within you. It can't be done without negative results. You can't out-wit your self so you may as well stop right now and use this new approach.

Work with your self. Emotions of love and wellbeing about yourself will prove much more effective in changing parts of you you're unhappy with than any other aggressive and conflicting method will ever do.

So practice first falling in love with your tummy - this method can also be applied to any other part of you. Then, develop a positive, realistic, and wonderful image of how you'd like to see yourself, include happiness, confidence and wellness in that picture. Don't compare yourself to anyone else either, after all we're completely unique so you'll just be wasting time.

Now, allow your regime to develop in a spirit of 'aiming for wellbeing and a shape and weight I enjoy' rather than 'trying to lose weight' or 'getting rid of my fat belly.'

This approach will ensure a more harmonious relationship with your subconscious and you'll be enlisting the most powerful manifestation tool in the world - your mind.
