Addicted To Foods

I was browsing today through some online articles about free weight loss recipes and healthy diet, the language used and the statements made in these articles prompt me to clarify certain myths concerning food diets and weight loss.

In one of the articles the author states that eating right and maintaining a healthy weight is not all that difficult. In fact, he adds, I am very sure most of you already know pretty well what is best. By cooking healthy meals from free weight loss recipes and participating in sports activities, you should find losing weight not a problem at all.

The first thing that struck me in his statement is that eating right is not that difficult. As a holistic health counselor, I know by experience that people are addicted to foods that hurt them. This is not a secret in my field; when we are sensitive or allergic to some type of foods, our body start producing antibodies. These antibodies are released at the same time we are used to eat that food. They are released even when we don't eat it and that what causes the cravings, sometimes headaches or feeling of weakness or dizziness.

When I suggested to one of my clients one day to stop eating bread, she called me few days later complaining that she could not survive the day without her morning bread. That she felt weak and dizzy, if she did not get her bread fix. Some of us need that gluten fix, otherwise we feel a lack of energy and sad. The same for sugar, lactose, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol.

Most people know that they need to eat fruits and vegetables to lose weight and become healthy. But they just don't get the same satisfaction eating them like when they eat processed food, which prompt them to give up the healthy diet and go back to their old bad habits of eating. Food additives in processed foods are addictive and a total body cleansing is necessary before starting a healthy diet.

Growing up eating processed food weakens the digestive system which becomes unable to process fresh healthy foods. Lack of digestive enzymes and a weak production of hydrochloric acid make it difficult for individuals to adjust to their new healthy diet.

Processed food can be so addictive that you would find that some individuals have to drink a can of 12oz soda in the morning and before they go to the bathroom. Others must have their 1 pint ice cream at 10 pm every night.

Also people don't cook their own food anymore, they don't have the passion, the patience or the time to do it. So if individuals can not cook regular meals anymore, how can you expect them to cook healthy meal?

It is also hard to participate in sports activities regularly and stick to it. Where I live there are many tennis courts and basket ball courts. Every time I pass by them they are empty. People want to be healthy, they want to eat right and exercise but where is the motivation, they can't get to do it, they are lacking the will and the inspiration.

The growing numbers of overweight individuals is a proof that losing weight is no joke.
