Does Pure Garcinia Cambogia Extract Actually Work?

Most people feel like they need to lose some weight here and there. It's very natural. Furthermore most of us have tried a diet or two and found that doing one is miserable. Generally after a week of being "good" your stomach is aching so much from the hunger that you go and try to stuff as much fast food into your mouth that can fit and you find yourself right back where you started. That's why so many people look for something to help them out in their struggle. There always seems to be some miracle pill being marketed that's supposed to just drop the pounds of fat right off you. Cue the new weight loss supplement called pure Garcinia Cambogia extract. It's supposed to be the fat burner that answers all our weight loss prayers. Part of the reason for the big publicity surrounding it is that it was featured by Dr. Oz. He basically called pure Garcinia Cambogia extract "magic" and was almost jumping for joy about what it could do for all the people struggling with weight loss. Now if taking a supplement gets me closer to being Harry Potter, I'm very interested. However, my mother always told me to look before I leap so I decided to look into pure Garcinia Cambogia extract and decide if it really was the real deal.

The Garcinia Cambogia fruit is native to Southeast Asia and has been used by locals in recipes for a long time. Dr. Oz pointed out that food with Garcinia Cambogia as an ingredient apparently is felt to be more filling than normal. There are also some Malaysian soups that are served prior to a meal's main course that have Garcinia Cambogia in it. These soups are used to quell the appetite of people so they don't gorge later (I wish I had it before each Thanksgiving). The secret is hydroxycitric acid (HCA). HCA is found in the rind of the Garcinia Cambogia fruit. It's also the main part of pure Garcinia Cambogia extract.

Scientific trials have been conducted on animals and humans concerning the effectiveness of the extract for weight loss purposes as well as an appetite suppressant. The animal trials, specifically the ones done on rats showed a lot of promise. Apparently the HCA in the pure Garcinia Cambogia extract can inhibit the production of the enzyme called ATP citrate lyase. It's this enzyme that helps produce fat cells. A lot of rats also had higher serotonin levels which helps work as an appetite suppressant. Overall, the animal trials showed a ton of promise with using pure Garcinia Cambogia extract to help with weight loss.

So rats and humans aren't that different right? Apparently we are different enough to produce significantly different results as far as Garcinia Cambogia is concerned. Human trials split its participants into two groups: the active group receiving the pure Garcinia Cambogia extract and the control group which receives a placebo. In these trials, Garcinia Cambogia extract did not cause as much weight loss as it did for the rats. In fact, it had different effects on the people that participated in the studies with some of the people actually gaining weight instead of losing it. Fortunately, enough tests were conducted on pure Garcinia Cambogia extracts to show that it does in fact cause weight loss. It is a fat burner and appetite suppressant and although human testing did not show very dramatic results like it did with the rats, the results spoke for themselves.

Outside the lab environment, people have had success with using pure Garcinia Cambogia extract as a fat burner, even though some studies cast doubt on its effectiveness. So what's wrong with a little experimentation? A casual look at the results of some of the animal trials will give you a reason to stay as far away from Garcinia Cambogia as possible. One of the side effects found in some of the rats was testicular toxicity leading to testicular atrophy. Yes you read that correctly. I don't know about you but I generally refrain from taking something that can chemically neuter me. For any women out there that think they are exempt because of a lack of anatomy, I'm sure that something that leads to testicular toxicity and atrophy in males has the potential to do something pretty wacky to you too. You know the old saying, 'what's good for the gander is good for the goose.'

Before you start changing your mind about pure Garcinia Cambogia extract, you should know that humans and rats are not so similar after all. Despite numerous trials being conducted on humans, scientists are yet to show any negative side effects of Garcinia Cambogia on humans. As a matter of fact, the extract ranks very well when compared to weight loss drugs sold at most pharmacies. The results of testing pure Garcinia Cambogia extract are actually so positive that anybody who wants to make his/her weight loss more fruitful should try it.
