Diet Tips That Never Disappoint!

by Gail M. Davis

If you’ve been thinking that it might be time to take off a few pounds, let these easy diet tips help you. They won’t let you down! These are simple suggestions that lead to big losses on the scale. Follow these rules and you will notice big changes in as little as two weeks.

The first simple diet tip requires you to plan your meals. When you eat on the spur of the moment, you often make poor choices. Either the night before or in the morning, you need to plan three small, healthy meals and two small, healthy snacks for the day. Ideally, each meal would be less than 400 calories. More than that and the chances are that some of it will end up stored as fat!

Record your food intake. Health experts agree that tracking your food is one of the single most important diet tips. Weight loss journals are made for this purpose, but aren’t necessary. Printable online journal pages can be easily found, and in a pinch, a drugstore spiral notebook works well.

Many of us dine regularly in restaurants and that can be very challenging when dieting. Always be aware of portion sizes. Would you be surprised to know that a typical frozen dinner is an accurate size? Have a plan before you enter the restaurant and stick to it. Try to recruit someone to share a meal with you, or take at least half of your meal home for another time.

Many people feel deprived when dieting. If you savor each bite, chew really well, and eat slowly, you’ll begin to enjoy the taste of the food and feel more satisfied. Always eat with intention. Don’t be distracted into overindulging. Make your dining out experiences more about your companions instead of the food.

Pay attention to your hunger level. Stop eating when you’re no longer hungry and don’t eat out of boredom! Try to determine what is going on when you desire to overeat. Come up with a list of substitutes that you can reach for instead. Get some physical activity, read a good book, or call a friend, but don’t entertain yourself by eating.

Get plenty of nutrients in your diet. Protein and fiber are two of the most important things you need to get plenty of. They are both responsible for keeping you full and satisfied. Many dieters severely restrict fat from their diets. This can be a mistake. Heart-healthy fats are necessary for healthy hair and skin, joint lubrication, and hormonal balance. Omega-3 fats are even believed to help with the burning of fat.

Make sure that your diet includes plenty of calcium, as it is believed to encourage weight loss. Skim milk and fat-free yogurt are excellent additions to any diet. Sodas and sweet drinks should be eliminated or severely restricted and substituted with water. Water may not have the healthy benefits that we once thought, but it does keep you full.

Find an activity that you enjoy doing and do it regularly. If something is fun, you’ll stick with it longer. It’s important for weight loss and maintenance to burn excess fuel each day. If you hate to exercise then find ways to be more active during day. Work on learning to appreciate what exercise can do to keep your body functioning. If you don’t move it regularly, you will get to the point where you can’t move it!

If you incorporate these simple diet tips into your daily routine, you will be amazed at how quickly you notice small changes. These changes will boost your confidence and increase your motivation to the point where you will look forward to continuing your weight loss journey.
