Belly Fat – How To Get Rid of It

Despite the fact that many people say it is almost impossible to get rid of belly fat, there are things that you can do that will help you lose that excess weight around your belly. However, keep in mind that women tend to have a higher percentage of body fat than men because they tend to have less muscle. Nonetheless, don’t despair and get ready to lose your belly.

Two things are necessary to reduce your stomach. First, you have to change the way you eat and what you eat. Second, you have to become more active and adopt some sort of exercise or at least increase your physical activity, especially if you have a job where you sit for the majority of the day. In other words some weight loss is probably necessary, you can’t spot reduce just specific areas of your body.

Changing Your Diet

When you’re making changes, you should always remember to eat breakfast and to eat when you-re hungry, preferably before you get ravenously hungry and over-indulge yourself. By denying food to your body, you’re actually encouraging it to slow down it’s metabolism and store more fat. By eating, you’re keeping your metabolism active and revved up burning calories normally. Also, try not to eat late at night. If you eat something shortly before going to sleep your body doesn’t have time to work it off and is more easily stored as fat.

A healthy diet is one that includes at least a couple of servings of fruits and vegetables every day which is rich in fiber and suppresses hunger. Also, you should try to eat whole grains instead of processed ones. This means breads and pastas that are made with whole wheat flour or a mix of whole wheat and white flour instead of just white flour. The body has to work harder to digest the whole grains, thus burning off more energy. Also, when you eat meat you should try and stick to lean meats like poultry and fish.

Get Your Heart Pumping

When it comes to exercise, you have to get your heart pumping which raises the metabolism thereby burning more calories. This means some sort of cardio or aerobic exercise. Also aerobic exercising uses fat predominantly for fuel.

Surprisingly enough, exercises like crunches will not help you because they strengthen muscles instead of burning fat. The stomach muscles won’t show through if it’s still covered by fat.

So do something simple and inexpensive, like go outside and just walk or jog. If you don’t want to leave the house, you can jump rope or get a step aerobics video. If you’re a guy that likes fishing, try using oars to move your boat instead of the motor. If you can afford it, you can get a membership at a gym or health club, some people find it easier to exercise when you’re around other like minded fitness enthusiasts.

It can be challenging to stick to a workout regimen, however one way to keep yourself motivated is to set aside a certain amount of time every day. It can be 30 minutes or an hour, and make this is your time to help yourself, you may even find yourself looking forward to this time alone. Or if you have kids or pets you can take them walking with you, and it’ll help burn off their excess energy. If you keep the same routine every day, it will become part of your daily routine.

So if you are struggling to attain the kind of body that you want just remember with enough desire and determination you’ll eventually get rid of that unwanted belly fat.
